Brief Description
The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities took several measures to promote the rights of women and girls with disabilities by organizing a national campaign to ‘;prohibit and criminalize the removal of the uterus of a person with disabilities.’ The campaign targeted 455 families, dealt with the subject from various legal, health and religious aspects, and involved the families of persons with mental disabilities. The Fatwa Department issued Fatwa No. 194 (2014/2) prohibiting the removal of the uterus of girls with disabilities and establishing the liability of society towards them.
